It’s with great pride and patriotic fervour that Lost Map Records announce a second release on the label from one of the most maverick, cherished and original personalities on the Glasgow DIY music scene Romeo Taylor – the off-the-wall electro-pop solo alter-ego of Taylor Stewart, whose energetic performances as drummer with acts such as Rapid Tan, Savage Mansion and Herbert Powell are the stuff of legend, a man of no little range who is as at home opening for slacker indie hero Mac Demarco as he is 80s pop starlet Tiffany.

‘The Kingdom of Scotland’ is a mind-melting, body-quaking happy hardcore ode and love-letter to the land of chips, Buckfast and lower-than-average life expectancy and the unofficial anthem-in-waiting of modern day Ecosse (move over the Corries, your time has passed). Traditionally the closing song in Taylor’s bizarre, hilarious and unforgettable live sets – which see our fair Romeo, customary can-of-lager in hand, summon patter and stage presence somewhere between pumped-up personal trainer and sloshed bingo caller – it’s one instant oddball classic among many by an artist, producer and multi-instrumentalist who is fast becoming a cult sensation. It will be released as part of Lost Map’s PostMap Club subscription service (lostmap.com/club) on June 28, the same day that Taylor makes a much-anticipated headline appearance at the Hug and Pint in Glasgow (tickets on sale now). It will subsequently be available on all major streaming platforms from July 5.
