A brand new series of limited-edition vinyl and digital releases, written and recorded in residency on the Isle of Eigg, Scotland
Artists are invited to spend one week in solitude, in Sweeney’s Bothy, a cosy eco-cabin located on the north-side of the island. Lost Map provides recording equipment and instruments, and artists can also bring whatever they want with them. No specific remit - just freedom to create the music they fancy making. We ask them to document their stay, either with a diary, sketchbook and/or photos, and we collect all this alongside the music they make.
The project started in July 2017, and the first series is now ready to launch, with three different artists having taken part. The first artist is MONOGANON, aka John B McKenna.
Lost Map is releasing the music created for V I S I T ▲ T I O N S across a series of EPs. You can support our project by subscribing to the series. We’re offering two different packages - a physical subscription, and a digital one.
Physical subscribers will receive 3 EPs pressed on 12” vinyl, one from each of the artists taking part, over the course of the next 6 months. The vinyl is housed in an extra-glossy sleeve, with a customised design by David Galletly, and an insert with artwork and photos taken by the artist during their stay. Each package will come with a CD copy (often with bonus tracks), as well as a printed postcard with download code for all the audio and photos taken during the project. The first EP will be sent out in August, the second in October, and the final EP in December.
Digital subscribers will receive a printed postcard with download code for each EP package in the series, containing all the audio, and photos / artwork by the artist.
ALL subscribers have the option to join an exclusive mailing list which will contain up-to-date news on the project, as well as regular discounts on our live events and release catalogue.
Centred around the VISITATIONS project, we have started an official Lost Map Podcast - containing interviews with each of the artists who have taken part, discussing their experience, their creative process and also their background as a musician, as well as some clips of the music they have created.
