ISLE OF EIGG, SCOTLAND - JULY 18-20, 2014
FIRST BATCH OF TICKETS ON SALE THIS SATURDAY, DEC 14 AT KID CANAVERAL'S CHRISTMAS BAUBLES IV, SECOND BATCH ONLINE AT THE LOST MAP WEB SHOP FROM 12 NOON, SUNDAY, DEC 15.
Lost Map would like to invite you, and people of your acquaintance, to a special lost weekend of music, fun and adventure on the Hebridean isle of Eigg. Prepare yourself for three days of the best sounds from Scotland and beyond, surrounded by the country’s most wondrous sights - brought to you by the organisers of Home Game and Away Game, and made possible with support from Homecoming Scotland 2014.
Lost Map’s Howlin’ Fling! is taking place over the weekend of the July 18-20, 2014; ticket holders will be ferried across from the mainland, and immersed in a veritable cavalcade of sonic splendour. Music will start on the Friday evening, continue all-day Saturday, and into Sunday, after which there'll be a bonfire and a bit of a sing-a-long.
Eigg-resident, festival organiser and Lost Map Records head-honcho Johnny Lynch (The Pictish Trail), reveals all:
“Soooo excited to let you all know about our first big Lost Map event, on my island home of Eigg! Unleash your inner-Shakira, please, for the Howlin’ Fling! Ah-woooooh! Howlin’ Fling! is a showcase for all the incredible bands on the Lost Map roster, as well as a get-together for our favourite fellow musicians, and special guest pals whose work we love. We host live music and DJs across two stages, whilst also encouraging visitors to discover the island; with treks up Eigg's glass mountain, the Sgurr, and trips to the beautiful white sand beaches.
"Our previous events on the island, under the Away Game name, took place in 2010 and 2012 - and both were incredible adventures. This is our first weekend bash as Lost Map, and it’s going to be the best one yet! A ticket includes ferry transportation to the island, and camping. We’ll be chartering ferries to take people over to the island from the Thursday onwards, and there’ll be boats heading back on the Sunday and Monday.
"The full line-up is gonna be kept a secret until next year… but to give you a flavour of what to expect, past invitees have included Django Django, Jon Hopkins, Nathan Fake, Gruff Rhys, British Sea Power, Human Don’t Be Angry, Cate Le Bon, Kan, François & The Atlas Mountains, Johnny Flynn, Sparrow & The Workshop, Euros Childs, Diamh, Silver Columns, Slow Club, Twilight Sad, Sweet Baboo, and tons of others.
"Eigg’s a really special place, and it’s where I call home. The population of the island is only about 80 people, and they are a very close knit group o’ folk. The islanders collectively bought the island from the landowner 15 years ago - and they’ve since become a pioneering community with a dedicated green ethos, developing one of the first off-grid electricity systems in the UK. Amazing people. They like a good party, an’ aw! Make sure you get a ticket!“
TICKET INFORMATION
Tickets will be priced at £130 each, + £1.50 postage fee. The price includes a ferry trip to and from the island, as well as camping for the weekend. Ferries will be chartered from Thursday July 17, untilMonday 21 - and ticket holders will need to book a place well in advance. Details on how to book your ferry will be provided by Lost Map once tickets have sold out. THIS EVENT IS FOR OVER 18's ONLY.
Here's the important bit. There are a VERY limited amount of tickets. The demand for tickets in previous years has been insane - the 2010 event here sold out in 6 minutes, and demand for 2012’s ticket lottery was oversubscribed more than 10 times. This year, we’ll be selling tickets in batches.
THE FIRST place you can purchase tickets is at Kid Canaveral’s Xmas Baubles. This is happening on Saturday, December 14, 2013, at Portobello Town Hall in Edinburgh. We will be accepting payment at the venue by cash, or by cheque (made payable to ‘Lost Map Records Ltd').
If you’ve not got tickets for Baubles, don't worry. THE SECOND batch of tickets will go on sale from the Lost Map website at 12noon on Sunday, December 15. The last batch will go on sale onSaturday, January 4, 2014, at 12noon. In the meantime, relive the memories with these videos:
