Following the release of last year's postcard single 'Do You Say Hello To Your Neighbours?', Savage Mansion, our Glasgow-based purveyors of of scuzzy slacker guitar pop, have returned with a brand new batch of recordings.  The work of front-man Craig Angus and friends, the Document EP is released on cassette as part of our limited edition Lost Cat series - a platform for fringe, niche and unusual lo-fi audio curio by label artists and friends of the label, which has seen titles from Pictish Trail, Devonanon, Josie Long, Bas Jan and O/S/E

'Older and Wiser' opens the EP, a clattering, rattling runway train of a track with a bassline that drives like a locomotive and guitars that screech like brakes.  The EP's title track, 'Document', swiftly follows, managing to condense the very essence of the band's 90's guitar-heroes in under 90 seconds.

Where Side A is a rush of distortion pedal thrills, Side B is a much more contemplative affair; on 'Modern Times' ('M.T.'), Craig sings of a sense of displacement with everyday life: "i'm just a modern man / with no concentration span / i'm just a modern guy / it's not me, it's the times / the times i'm living in".  On 'Hometime Pt.2', Craig enlists the harmonies of frequent collaborator, and friend of Lost Map, Martha Ffion, for a rare stripped-back acoustic number.
