A very limited edition cassette tape, within silver glitter-shell casing, and hand-assembled wrap around sleeve, collecting together the live session Martha Ffion recorded for us in September 2020, alongside a handful of covers, a remix, and home recorded demos. Each tape comes with a download code, and a secret link to view the video session.

Side A features all 6 tracks of the live session Clare ‘Martha Ffion’ McKay recorded between lockdowns during Autumn 2020 at Chime Studios in Glasgow. Drawing predominantly from her most recent LP, Nights To Forget, Claire is accompanied by her pals Beth Chalmers and Suse Bear (aka Good Dog), stripping back the songs to their core elements, and presenting a more intimate performance.

“During those brief, halcyon days of ‘Phase 3’, I moved quickly to pull together a live session that would be more exciting than my living room acoustic streams,” says Claire. “With time of the essence and restrictions on group numbers I knew a more minimal set up would be needed. We ended up revisiting some of my original demos for inspiration – picking out the most important elements of each song and focusing on getting the harmonies just right. The theme ‘captured on cassette’ comes from a Nights to Forget lyric. I hunted down some vintage cassette players and tried to give the room a seedy ‘70s motel aesthetic. We had a lot of fun and were giddy to be making music in a room together.”

Showcasing the supportive close-knit scene in Glasgow, Side B opens with a remix from electronic producer and songwriter Jamie Scott (Conquering Animal Sound / MC Almond Milk), and features cover versions from Good Dog, Djana Gabreille. The tape also includes the debut recording from Thigh Gap, a brand new collaboration between Clarissa Cheong (of Eagleowl) and Kate Lazda (of Kid Canaveral), and closes with three rare home-recorded demos from Claire.
