Our favourite dream-pop combo, Lazy Day, played a sold out show at the Servant's Jazz Quarters, in London's fashionable Dalston earlier this week. It was in support of their brannnd new single, 'With My Mind' ... which is out NOW as part of our prestigious PostMap series.
You can purchase the single on postcard, which comes with a download code (featuring an exclusive extra track, an acoustic version of the song). It's only £1, plus postage, and will be delivered straight to, and indeed through, your letterbox. The track is also available on BandCamp / Spotify / AppleMusic and other streamy places.
If you didn't manage to make the Servant's Jazz Quarters gig, we have two great pieces of news for you. 1) There'll be another Lazy Day London show announced shortly! ... AND ... 2) lead singer Tilly Scantlebury has put together a comprehensive photo blog of this week's gig. If you press play on the SoundCloud player below, you can almost pretend you were actually there. Genius.
... TILLY'S PHOTO BLOG ...
The day started like lots of other days, life-admin in my pyjamas. But this was no ordinary day, this was our gig day! So I did some gig-admin in my pyjamas instead: here’s me posting on the social medias about set times. Because rules control the fun!
Then I had to write 100 download codes on 100 postcards. Do not incorrectly identify this photo as joyful. I’m not smiling! I’m verging on tears. Writing 100 download codes is quite an emotionally distressing task for a dyslexic. I hope everyone really fucking enjoys those download codes.
After I changed into my rock and roll clothes Beni arrived and we shipped our gear to the venue. We looked stupid with it all out on the street. But then we took this cool picture which marked us out as people not to be made fun of.
After schlepping it all into the venue, we did a soundcheck. We took this soundcheck extremely seriously.
What's more serious than soundcheck? Beer! Eric Cantona's head was on the box which was confusing?
Beni's excitement was rising by the minute!
Lots of the Beni excitement was fuelled by his new drum kit. Gold and black sparkles! It's as pretty as Beni!
We live in a capitalist world. Here is our merchandise. We want everybody's money.
What monster wouldn't want to buy a vinyl of baby me?
Look at that belly!
Before we played we had enough time to take a candid photo of the professional rock drummer enjoying a private moment before the show. Swoon!
And we're off! We played 'Portrait' first, and here's Liam sporting a classic lead guitarist big riff pose. Look at him go! Swoon!
Jonny is so casual and cool that he can play the bass with one hand. Swoon!
This photo would suggest that I'm less casual. (Swoon?)
Pedal to the metal!
We played a new(ish) song called ‘What’s Up’ next. It looks like I’ve calmed down by this point.
Shred-off !!!
After the gig finished we were all happy. The venue shut but rock n roll has no curfew.
That was a really fun night. We can't wait to do it all again for our next headline show. Keep an eye out for some exciting announcements.
Over and out!
