Following extensive 10th anniversary celebrations throughout 2023, Lost Map Records are excited to announce a new chapter in the isle of Eigg based label’s story – an exclusive collaboration with Edinburgh’s Good Vibes, which will see the Leith record store and studios become Lost Map’s new mainland base of operations. For the first time, the full Lost Map catalogue and merch range will be available to buy from a single bricks and mortar shop (subject to stock levels), and in-person pick-ups of online orders will be possible at no extra charge (cutting packaging waste and reducing Lost Map’s carbon footprint). Good Vibes will furthermore become a new hub for exclusive live gigs, launches and special events, platforming artists from the label roster and beyond, and give Lost Map a day-to-day physical presence among Leith’s buzzing creative community.
Following a short closure during the transition period, Good Vibes will officially re-open from Wednesday, July 10 with new extended opening hours Wednesday-Sunday, 10am-5pm (4pm Sunday). On Saturday, July 13 the store will host a re-launch party to celebrate its collaboration with Lost Map, featuring live sets from Susan Bear and Both Hands, plus DJs and other surprises. It runs from 7pm until 10pm and entry is free.
Lost Map Records founder and director Johnny Lynch says:
“This partnership is a truly wonderful opportunity for Lost Map – we’re excited to be bringing our music to one of the most exquisitely curated record shops in the country. Given our unique situation on Eigg and the logistical challenges involved, we’ve always had a mainland base in Edinburgh for our webshop and distribution (run by Kate ‘Canaveral’ Lazda). Over the past decade, the transition from a cupboard in Kate’s flat to larger spaces has been quite a journey, and finding a suitable location has been crucial. By partnering with Good Vibes, we’re making our music more readily available to fans, giving them the chance to explore a wider range of our artists’ work. Leith, with its vibrant and rapidly evolving cultural landscape, is the perfect location for this next chapter in Lost Map’s story. We hope our shared presence with Good Vibes will add to the area’s dynamism and offer music enthusiasts a unique place to discover and enjoy new music.”
Good Vibes co-founder and co-owner Mike Bryant says:
“Having Lost Map’s headquarters become part of our building and our shop is such an immeasurable joy. They are a label we have loved for so long now and have released some of our favourite records to date, so to have them be part of Good Vibes and have customers and fans get better access to one of the UK’s best small, independent record labels is so exciting for us.”
ABOUT GOOD VIBES:
