V I S I T ▲ T I O N S : S2
BUY IT IN FULL, NOW!
Like a dodgy little corner shop which for years has been flogging cut-price individual bags of 'Deep Ridged' Flame-Grilled Steak Walkers ™ in flagrant defiance of a MULTIPACK: MUST NOT BE SOLD SEPARATELY warning, it's high time we started offering you the complete bundle when it comes to the second installment of our isle of Eigg residency series V I S I T ▲ T I O N S. Not because we're concerned about trading standards catching us out – nothing a fat brown envelope of used fivers couldn't solve in any event – but because the three releases, which you'll see attractively pictured above, are in fact best appreciated all together, in the round, as a whole, en masse. Think of them like a musical ménage à trois, a badass triad, a real holy moly of a trinity. Or like a finely tailored three-piece suit: jacket, trousers and reassuringly close-fitting leather pants. Mmmmmm, tight.
Ladies and gentlemen, with the release of the superb Rozi Plain - Gerard Black - Jamie Whitby-Coles EP, V I S I T ▲ T I O N S series two is now finally, officially complete. And as such, the full, primed and bulging triple-stuffed package – sorry can't stop thinking about those leather pants! – is just waiting to be owned by you or by someone dear to you e.g. a spouse or an elderly relative. In addition to the lush af RoziBlackColes record, the set also includes an EP by Arthur King – a revolving collective of musicians, visual artists and filmmakers based in Los Angeles including Grandaddy's Jason Lytle – as well as the full debut solo album by Rachel Aggs, the exceptionally prolific virtuoso of euphoric post-punk who has achieved international acclaim with her collaborative projects Trash Kit, Shopping and Sacred Paws. As with all of the music in the series, all three records were made in full in a bothy on our dear green island home.
To celebrate, get a little better acquainted with Rozi'n'Co's Eigg sesh. Firstly by listening to both parts of a two-part Lost Map Podcast special recorded during the making of the Rozi'n'Friends EP. Then by watching the video for their V I S I T ▲ T I O N S EP track 'Beiggy', which contains lots of slo-mo roaming about in the Scottish mist, as set to a counting-based song which wouldn't sound out of place in a particularly funky episode of Sesame Street. It shouldn't work, but it does!

CALLUM EASTER IS SHORTLISTED FOR THE SAY AWARD!
+ DOING A TIM'S TWITTER LISTENING PARTY
It hardly came as any surprise to us – we've liked him ever since we first met him, even if he doesn't say very much – but Callum Easter is now officially, verifiably Popular™. That's because he has ONLY GONE AND WON THE PUBLIC VOTE for the Scottish Album of the Year Award, AKA the SAY Award. It means Callum automatically goes through to the final shortlist of 10 albums in line to win the prestigious award for most Scottishly best album of the year. It's a brilliant thing and we are honestly completely made up for Callum because he is a smashing and v. talented and v. hard-working fella and Here Or Nowhere is an absolute masterpiece of a record even if we do say so and indeed did release it ourselves (on sale now priced £16). We can't wait for him to win the big prize at the free-to-view online ceremony on Thursday, October 29 – which FYI will feature a live performance from our favourite sad synth-pop dreamboats and yours Happy Spendy – if for no other reason than so we have an excuse to get absolutely smashed drunk in the house on our own. Which, tbqh, we would probably be doing anyway because there is literally nothing else to do anymore.
In the build up to the SAY Award announcement, there'll be a series of special Tim's Twitter Listening Parties featuring all of the SAY Award nominees – including Callum at 7pm on Monday, October 26. Which, if you don't know what that means, it means a rando out of some band from the nineties (The Charlatans???) invites you all to listen to the same album at the same time while looking at your phone, except trouble is like every time you seem to go on Twitter you only end up getting distracted and getting in argument with strangers and being suspended for calling @paulj41467117 from Runcorn a "Tory c**t". WE ARE JOKING OF COURSE and Tim Burgess is of course an Absolute Legend ™ and his Twitter Listening Parties have been a joy and a godsend these last few heinous months, and it is amazing that Callum has been invited to be a part of one. All Callum needs to do now is start tweeting more than about five words at a time. We'll help him out, it'll be fine.

OCTOBER POSTMAP CLUB:
INTRODUCING – SULKA
It may or may not have been while staring in the bathroom mirror, pulling at our craggy, ancient, haunted features, peering menacingly into our red-rimmed eyes as if they were those of a mortal enemy all the while repeatedly muttering "what have YOU EVEN DONE WITH YOUR LIFE" that we decided it was time to bring in a bunch more fresh blood to the Lost Map label roster. To which end: meet Lukas Clasen, AKA Sulka. A fine young Scottish man in a hat – also sometimes not in a hat – who hails from the city that is Glasgow and makes a gloriously melodic, scuzzy, crumpled, lived-in kind of lo-fi indie-rock music that gets our blood pumping and makes our heart soar and makes us feel 21 again and has us jumping around the room like mad until we are wheezing and short of breath and feeling like we might be sick and oh god oh christ it's happening again SOMEONE CALL NHS 111.
You're welcome, by the way. If you're wondering why we just said that, let's just call it a future echo of what's about to happen approximately two minutes and forty-six seconds after you download Sulka's song 'Fear It' as part of this month's PostMap Club bundle (on digital platforms from October 21) – then proceed to thank us profusely for helping to bring such a sensational piece of music into your life. Because it really is one of the most instantly gratifying ear worms we have heard in a long while. Much as we actually hate the expression "ear worm" and much prefer, for instance, "cotton bud", or more accurately "wax-encrusted cotton bud", which if like us you are "of a certain age" you will understand exactly what we mean. Look, it's just a really great song and you're gonna love it, trust us. Lots more on Sulka to follow soon, including news of his forthcoming debut album, due early next year.
And wait there's more! The October PostMap Club post bag is groaning, simply groaning we tell you – like the brakes on a heavily laden car, or the sound we made late last night while passing a kidney stone – with so much good stuff. Including a trippy drum'n'bass reversioning of a Clémentine March classic and a live session by Martha Ffion. All that and, if you sign up now, all of last month's PostMap Club releases by Alexia Avina, Kinbote and Pictish Trail too.
A reminder or the two PostMap Club membership tiers and their respective prices and benefits is as follows:
