KID CANAVERAL'S CHRISTMAS eBAUBLES, STARRING: FRAN HEALY (TRAVIS), KT TUNSTALL, JASON LYTLE (GRANDADDY), PICTISH TRAIL, MARTHA FFION, WITHERED HAND, EAGLEOWL, MOLLY LINEN, ADAM ROSS, JILL LOREAN, SULKA, YOUR HOSTS KID CANAVERAL + MORE
Faced with the unthinkable prospect of there being no Kid Canaveral's Christmas Baubles this year, as there has been pretty much every year since the birth of Christ himself (sort of, 11 years), we did what anyone of fortitude, resourcefulness and true grit e.g Santa would do. We put on Billy Ocean's 'When The Going Get's Tough' really, really loud, we took off our shirt, and we went on the internet. And we emailed all of our great celebrity mates (all three of them), in Los Angeles, which is in America. Then we waited (eight hour time difference). Put our shirts back on while we were waiting (cold). Ate a delicious 6" Subway Pig In Blanket sub AKA the ‘Tiger Pig' ™, watched a bit of Die Hard. Woke up on the keyboard to discover that Fran Healy from your actual Travis, Jason Lytle from your actual Grandaddy, and KT Tunstall from your actual KT Tunstall had all promptly replied to say "yes, we'll be there 4 u (like we've been there b4)". And with that, ladies and gentlemen, Kid Canaveral's Christmas eBaubles was born. God bless our Holy Lord and Saviour, the internet
This Wednesday night, December 23 – AKA the night before the night before Christmas, AAKA Christmas Eve's Eve – join us on the online for an hour of virtual merriment, song and surprises, packed with legends of the Lost Map roster and special guests from near and far, all singing one song each, some of them classics and some of them brand ass-spankin' new. Socially distant performances were captured at The Glad Café in Glasgow, by Joe Smilie and Richie Morgan. Other performances have been captured by the artists themselves, filmed at home. Tickets, available here, are priced on a pay-what-you-can-afford scale, with suggested donations starting at £3. It’s been a tough year for a lot of folks, so feel free to make any donation (including nothing). Ticket-holders will be sent a secret link and password on the day of the show, about an hour before the performance is due to start. All proceeds from this event will be going to the Trussell Trust and two food banks in Scotland – the Glasgow SE Foodbank (which is the closest foodbank to the Glad Café), and the Edinburgh NE Foodbank (which is the one we've donated to every year). Read more about the Trussell Trust here.

THERE'S STILL TIME TO GIVE THE GIFT OF POSTMAP
|
|
Between the ravages of CV19 and the idiocy of Brexiteers raging at Europeans harder than a shoeless John McClane up Nakatomi Plaza, Christmas shopping hasn't been as easy as it normally is this year. If you're still desperately on the hunt for a contact-free something special something to give to a distant friend or parent or colleague or maybe even an estranged spouse whom you had hoped to win back with a last minute appearance at their office party until a bunch of German klepto-terrorists showed up and ruined everything, then worry not. Because yer old pals Lost Map have got your back. Like a grizzled New York City cop with a vest and a grudge (but no shoes).
For a limited time only we've made it possible to give the gift of the PostMap Club, through one of our special gift membership packages. And while you may be too late to make the last snail mail before Christmas, we can fulfill your purchase over the world wide web AKA the internet in the first instance, by sending a special Xmas Day e-message to your intended recipient (example: "Yippee-ki-yay, Mum!"). After that they'll receive 12 monthly installments of hot and exclusive new material through their door. At the end of their 12 months, we'll offer them the chance to sign up on an ongoing basis. Because a PostMap Club membership is for life, not just for Christmas.
In the December PostMap Club bundle there's an exclusive compilation of seasonal material by artists from the Lost Map roster including Happy Spendy, Fell, A.R. Pinewood and popular Irish stout powered supergroup Friends of the Guinness – who have a new video dropping tomorrow – plus tracks by Kinbote, Jenny Moore's Mystic Business and Sulka. A round-up of the now THREE PostMap Club membership tiers and their respective prices and benefits is as follows:

2020 IN LOST MAP
Well that was the year that was (sh*te). But we got through it, together. And much as that may sound like one of those things that people say in emotional moments like this without actually meaning it – like "couldn't have done it without you" or "teamwork is dreamwork" or "has anyone ever told you that you look like a young Anneka Rice in that tracksuit?" – we really actually literally do mean it. Because when everything kicked off back in March, like everyone else, we were bricking it and thought the label might be in real jeopardy. But it turns out we'd underestimated just how dedicated and loyal and generous (and good looking) our fans and supporters and subscribers are, and moreover, how much great music would matter to people throughout this sh*te time. Which in turn has motivated and inspired us to put more into the label than in any other year. Yeah baby!
We released a whopping 12 full-length albums in 2020, plus three EPs. We shared a second series of our V I S I T A T I O N S residency project, we put out 36 postcards as part of our PostMap Club subscription service (which has seen membership nearly double since this time last year), we launched a new podcast, and above all WE HAD SOME LAUGHS (and cried a bit too). We couldn't have done it without you! Our teamwork really was dreamwork. Admittedly we have had a drink, but honestly, you really do look good in that tracksuit. See you in 2021! Don't go changing. Except your underwear. Obviously change your underwear.

ABOUT 2021...
2020 was PLENTY. Trust us when we say that 2021 is going to be a ton more fun. We're wasting no time in getting it started by dropping a brand new episode of the Lost Map Podcast on January 1 AKA New Year's Day. Packed with surprises and plans for the year ahead, lukewarm jokes and mild talking, it'll be just the thing to sooth your sorry head while you clean up after your raging Hogmanay party for one.
We're already working on a bunch of 2021 releases and can tell you now that they will include new musics from Clémentine March, Sulka, Jenny Moore's Mystic Business, Firestations, Savage Mansion, Bas Jan and Molly Linen, to name but a few. Who knows, if we're lucky we might even manage to organise a gig or two and see one another IRL before the year is out? We might even be able to touch! Imagine being touched? Imagine being touched by anyone ever? Okay bye.
