WATCH ALEXIA AVINA LIVE IN SESSION
TOMORROW – THURSDAY, MARCH 11 @ 8PM GMT
Think "legends of the sesh" and you might think of Mark E. Smith, Boris Yeltsin, Cheryl Cole, Liverpool Football Club circa the "Spice Boys" era, Dot Cotton on one of her sherry benders or even street-fighting actor Kiefer Sutherland. Likely American dream-pop singer-songwriter and guitarist Alexia Avina won't immediately spring to mind. But trust us when we say that's soon about to change. Not because Alexia's about to hit a W*therspoons around lunchtime, drink 13 pints of mid-strength low-cost cooking lager then fall asleep in a shop doorway after eating a foot-long Subway T.L.C ™ "Tastes.Like.Chicken" plant-based sandwich (can't stop thinking about this delicious 90s pop star sandwich). But because she has recorded a soon to become legendary sesh-sion (session) for us, live at sunset from her v. chilled out yoga room, which we can't wait to livestream for your viewing pleasure TOMORROW NIGHT, AKA Thursday, March 11 @ 8PM GMT. BYOB.
To join us for this one-event, presented by Lost Map's broadcasting wing Lost Map TV (AKA "Bart"), you can buy a ticket for just £5. OR, if you're a member of the PostMap Club – which you can sign up to now for as little as £3, and which this month includes a postcard of exclusive audio from Alexia's session – you can access the livestream entirely for free, passing under the red velvet rope to join us in the VIP hot tub. Which, even if it is an entirely imaginary virtual hot tub, is still actually just a wheelie bin full of lukewarm soapy water and bits of moldy old potato peel, such are the limits of our imagination (sorry). If you'd like to get yourself in the mood for this heavy sesh, and get to know Alexia a little better in the process, then listen to an in-depth interview with her in the new episode of the Lost Map Podcast.

If there's one thing we do well at Lost Map besides making elaborate snacks from random things in the fridge past their so-called "best before date", watching classic WrestleMania episodes, writing elaborate emails of complaint to Ofcom about Neighbours' controversial move to Channel 5 (never been the same since), napping, Google researching conspiracy theory that "best before dates" are an elaborate technique of deep-state mind control, re-ordering VHS collection of classic WrestleMania episodes not by broadcast date but by finishing moves, feeling sick after snack, more napping – we could go on – then it's talking.
Behold, the new episode of the Lost Map Podcast! Featuring music, and talking. Mainly talking. Highlights of the March installment include:
- In-depth interview with Alexia Avina: in which Alexia talks about moving house a lot, some exciting new music, how she spent a long time thinking about the light for her live session. V good would recommend.
- First Gig, Worst Gig with Firestations: in which Mike, Martin and Laura from Firestations recall assorted gigs including one by The Drifters and another one by Pavement (more on them below), and another one by Reef and another one where the promoter cancelled the gig mid-gig before the support band had even finished because he was a d*ck. V good would recommend.
- New feature 'Lost Chats' feat. Savage Mansion: pilot for a new segment in which staff members Bart and Laura talk with Craig from Savage Mansion about e.g. Bob Dylan, dogs and terrorist dogs. V good but would not necessarily recommend.

MARCH POSTMAP CLUB FEAT. SAVAGE MANSION

At Lost Map we are firmly of the belief that while talent, dedication and hard work are all well and good and fine etc, what really matters is celebrity connections – which is why it's no coincidence that among our MySpace top eight friends are someone who was interviewed on the TV after being present at that Lenny Kravitz concert where his leather trousers split and his wang fell out, and someone else who once met Kiefer Sutherland on Sauchiehall Street (wasted). As such we're really excited to tell you about the new single by Savage Mansion. Available to stream and share now, and also released as part of the March installment of the PostMap Club (together with another new track 'Wig Wise'), alt-country blues pinger 'Prizes' is the latest hot slice o' goodness from a band who are fully endorsed by none other than musician and celebrity ™ Bob Nastanovich, from the indie-rock band Pavement. Bob has been championing the SavMans – who welcome new member, Lost Map photography guru Beth Chalmers on keys – on his podcast 3 Songs. Cheers, Bob!
If you don't remember who Pavement are – and we know that you do, you're not that young – then let us remind you that they were the really loud obnoxious band from America with the big bald singer who looked like a giant baby, who sang that song about how despite all his rage he still wasn't Nicolas Cage. Or was that the other band? Doesn't matter, main thing is they were famous and as such, Savage Mansion are now promoted to our top eight MySpace friends list, at expense of another friend who once made out with Chesney Hawkes in a nightclub. The moral of the story being: no matter how good your celebrity connection may be, never get too comfortable in our Top 8 ™.
