WATCH MOLLY LINEN'S NEW VIDEO FOR 'A LOT TO GIVE'
She's just walkin' around in the woods, playing her new song, occasionally pausing for a nice relaxing sit down by a stream. You say Molly Linen, we say Molly Chillin' (absolute bottom-drawer, illegally sh*te patter, sorry).
'A Lot to Give' is the first new song in a bunch of new songs we'll be bringing to you by Shropshire-by-way-of-Glasgow singer-songwriter Molly in coming months, and can we just say that we are pumped for it (possibly not the most apt choice of word but still true). The brand new video is directed by Tommy Perman from FOUND – who also contributes a lush remix which you'll get if you sign up to the PostMap Club. Recorded at all-analogue Glasgow studio Green Door, produced and mixed by Ronan Fay, ‘A Lot to Give’ unfolds one evening to the drone of an old air organ and a delicately finger-picked acoustic guitar. “An imagined conversation with an imagined person who lacks empathy,” says Molly. “A heart broken like a carelessly dropped vase.”
Never had our heart broken that way, personally, but did once get it chucked through a third-floor window with tremendous force, volleyed, then reversed over by a car. But that was 20 years ago now and we're mostly over it.

APRIL POSTMAP CLUB FEAT. RKB VITESSE
|
|
Is it a brand of attractively packaged but surprisingly disgusting craft beer? Is it some kind of obscure continental sporting club? Is it a rare venereal disease, or just some nonsense that someone came out with once while high on The Drugs™? RKB Vitesse could be any of the above – indeed it is probably at least one of the above – but for the purposes of this missive it is none of the above. It is in fact the name of an excellent recording artist whose real name is Oliver (Marchant). Say hello to Oliver / RKB Vitesse!
A maker of transiently euphoric electro doom bangers, London-based producer Oliver's new single ‘Pledge Pyschodrama’ is an ethereal, sine-wave bass throbbing spoken-word track, available as part of this month's PostMap Club (and also via digital services). PostMap subscribers in fact get an entire EP of the same name, also featuring a weird and dark remix of the title track by K Of Zen, plus a slo-mo disco remix by Oliver of his own song ‘Dancer At The Edge of Time’ and a strange and wonderful “response” to another of Oliver's tracks ‘The More You Love Yourself’ by performance artists, musicians and poets montenegrofisher.
A video is coming soon for ‘Pledge Pyschodrama’ – “a true tale of alcohol sodden heartbreak and broken promises on a short holiday to the Eden Valley, Cumbria,” explains Oliver, as we cry into our mug of beans, because we too know and have lived his pain.

The only thing Pictish Trail has any real previous experience of pushing his way to the front of is the queue at Thresher's wine store. So it's been a big thrill for him and everyone at Lost Map and even the cashier at Thresher's to see his gorgeous, hairy, glitter-encrusted face gracing the cover of The Skinny magazine this month, his first big magazine cover. Well done Pictish Trail! Read the interview here, or pick up a copy at venues across Scotland including selected branches of Threshers.
It comes in time for Pictish's new EP Dream Wall hitting digital services powerfully and in full, like a revitalising can of shelf-warm Holsten Pils downed in one on a bright spring morning. Packed with kaleidoscopic remixes of Pictish songs by Lost Map luminaries and friends including Callum Easter, Kinbote, Bamboo and Good Dog, the Dream Wall EP represents an appendage of sorts to the Trail's critically acclaimed fourth album Thumb World, which was released last year on Fire Records (still on sale now). Think of Dream Wall as an optional pork sausage stuck in Thumb World's mug of delicious hot beans, like a meaty Cadbury's Flake ™ or a kind of edible spoon.
In other Pictish Trail news – he is very soon about to announce some brand new exciting tour dates! Actual IRL, non-virtual shows at a time in future far enough off to realistically actually happen, but also soon enough to get excited about and picture yourself properly there. Standing down the front, singing along with every word. Mug of delicious steaming hot beans in hand, waving a pork sausage in the air like you just don't care. It could really happen.
