MOLLY LINEN'S NEW EP
Waving her hands in the air like she just don't care (she does care, she cares a lot), Molly Linen is back with more fine music from a forthcoming brand new EP. A lovely, hazy, bucolic, meditative lullaby that makes us want to take off all of our clothes, lay down in some tall grass and have a nice relaxing cry, 'The Day Starts' is available throughout the month of July as part of Lost Map’s PostMap Club subscription service (backed with bonus track ‘Hold’), as well as via digital platforms from July 8. Molly, who is more sophisticated than us, describes the song as “imagining a day in the life of a poet,” and "an attempt at capturing memories of long summer days spent in the dream-like warmth of my grandparent’s garden.” We're sorry about the taking off our clothes thing, Molly.
‘The Day Starts’ is the latest song to be previewed from Molly’s stunning forthcoming brand new EP Days Awake, which will be released on August 27, 2021 on eco-friendly 10” vinyl as well as via digital services – it's available for pre-order now (discount for PostMap Club members, see yr latest email). We should warn you that this EP – which contains the also extremely lovely song ‘A Lot To Give’ – comes with an extreme loveliness alert . It may cause you to do unexpectedly lovely things like smile lovely smiles at strangers, pet lovely dogs, tend lovingly to your houseplants or eat a lovely all-new McDonald's plant-based McPlant ™ sandwich. You, sir/madam, are lovin' it.

FIRESTATIONS' NEW EP
"You are stronger and tougher than you think," sing dream-pop dreamboats Firestations at the start of their new single 'Sun In Your Eyes' and while we know these words to be righteous and true, we can't help and hang our head in shame remembering that time we were in the Co-Op late one Thursday night shopping for a Bombay Bad Boy Pot Noodle ™ and attendant loo roll, and some feral children were hanging around and upon spotting our scraggly, haunted, unshaven features they all pointed at us and laughed and one of them proclaimed "hey mister, MOUSTACHEyou a question!!!" and, reader, we ran straight home and how we sobbed.
That lyric and other lyrics – indeed all of the lyrics – can be seen/heard by watching the lyric video for 'Sun In Your Eyes', which has been expertly put together by Bart, our own in-house video guru, albeit he was at the time in his own house and not our house meaning this one was technically done out-house (confusing, sorry). The track is taken from Firestations' hotttttt dawg new EP Pixel Wilderness, which is available to pre-order now ahead of its release on on August 6 as a limited-edition CDR with exclusive hand-made artwork. Pixel Wilderness represents the third and final installment in Firestations’ epic EP series Automatic Tendencies. A trilogy of thrillogies so hot it measures 1 MILLION Scoville units on the chilli heat scale . Incidentally the same heat as a super spicy snack made by a maverick Lancs man who pimped his Bombay Bad Boy Pot Noodle ™ with chilli powder and flakes from five ultra hot chillies as part of a charity challenge, landing him a job as the brand’s "spice consultant". Absolute scenes.

JUNE POSTMAP CLUB FEAT. A.R. PINEWOOD
|
|
"A.R. friend's electric" sang Gary Numan in a hit of 1979, not long before he was arrested on suspicion of Cold War espionage (true story). While many at the time naturally presumed the pastel-faced synth-pop aviator to be high on a hash bong to come out with such hallucinatory claptrap, to him it all made perfect sense. Because the electric friend Numan had in mind was A.R. Pinewood, later to become the world's first and indeed only heartbroken cyber-cowboy country singer, of Lost Map Records (us) fame. A mere cyber-pup back then, little larger than a family-sized toaster oven, A.R. and Gary would fly off on all kinds of adventures together in Gary's beloved two-seater light Cessna, getting into all sorts of hilarious scrapes, including once being detained after accidentally overflying a Soviet submarine base (true story, look it up). Gary Numan of course grew up to become the famous actor Gary Oldman, but he and A.R remain great friends (electric) to this day and still exchange cards for Christmas and Hanukkah.
A.R. Pinewood (who also goes by the name Adam) you will be delighted to know has recorded a brand new mini-album called Moonfire, which is available NOW in full to all current and about-to-become PostMap Club subscribers (it'll also probably be available to purchase on Bandcamp at some point too, TBC). Eight tracks of auto-tuned automaton cowboy lovin', it's the follow up to 2020's superb No Life LP ( still on sale now), and it finds our artificially semi-intelligent hero on a voyage through... outer space! A frontier further than even Gary Numan dared go beyond at his very, very highest – both in the altitude sense and the hash bong sense (and indeed both senses at once). Gary Oldman, on the other hand, has several times been to space, in films including The Fifth Element (1997) and Lost in Space (1998).
