THE DEBUT EP BY JENNY MOORE'S MYSTIC BUSINESS
While the rest of us struggled during the pandemic – eating the disgusting butt ends of our Hovis loaves, going outside admittedly only slightly less than we normally go outside – the world's richest men got richer to the tune of approximately eleventy gazillion dollars. So what if Jeff Bezos founded an amazing website which lets you order a life-size cutout of Pope Francis for next day delivery? So what if Richard Branson invented a delicious pickled chutney sandwich spread ™? Who cares if they both – and admittedly this was pretty cool – went into space just for the f*ck of it? Most of us are having a tough time down here on Earth, guys. Quit showing off.
Jenny Moore for one has had ENOUGH. Leading her six-piece choral-punk coven Jenny Moore's Mystic Business, she has written a raw, angry incantation aimed at those shamelessly money-grabbing men who vastly increased their fortunes these last 18 months, while millions around the world, especially on the margins of society, toiled and suffered. Released as part of August's PostMap Club and available to stream and share now, the song is called 'He Earns Enough', and it's for the men who, suffice to say, earn enough. Men like Bezos, Branson, Elon Musk... the guy who owns Tesco, whatever his name is. Let's call him Terry Tesco ™.
If they don't like them apples: f*ck 'em, because there's more JMMB fierceness where that came from, in the form of their incredible forthcoming debut EP, also titled He Earns Enough. Due for release on 12" vinyl on October 8, it's available for pre-order now, at less than half the price of a 70" cardboard pontiff.

AUGUST POSTMAP CLUB FEAT. ANGUS JOHNSON
|
|
Specially commissioned for the PostMap Club, ‘Something To Be Done’ is the amazing debut single from Angus Johnson, the solo electronic-pop alter-ego of Savage Mansion singer and songwriter Craig Angus, or "Crangus", as nobody calls him. Available to stream and share now, and forming half of a double A-side together with ‘Trouble Of Mine’ (set for release later in August but already available to PostMap Club subscribers), it's a sparse and intuitive nine-minute synth-pop confessional that builds to a rousing, arpeggiator-powered finish. Taps-aff, tears streaming down your face, or your money back. Both tracks on the double A-side are produced by Jamie Scott (MC Almond Milk, Conquering Animal Sound).
“I sat down to write some songs at the start of the year, straight off the back of working a month of 70-hour weeks,” Craig explains. “The songs came quite quickly but the thought of doing them all with guitars didn’t really get me going. Around the time I was listening to the Eddie Chacon record Pleasure, Joy and Happiness flat out. The songs are so simple, the lyrics are sparse, but I felt like this guy was talking directly to me. And I was in the midst of an extended psychological crisis, partly self-inflicted, so it was a great comfort to have that. So, when Johnny from Lost Map suggested doing something electronic with a couple of the tracks it made perfect sense. I know Jamie, admire his work a lot, he was down and it happened really quickly from there.
“The songs are fairly raw and speak to the place I was in. I was thinking of Neil Young’s Hitchhiker when I was writing, just playing and not really overthinking it, just putting it out there. So, there’s a degree of vulnerability that goes with that which I’m not necessarily used to. Both in the change of sound and change of approach.”
