PICTISH TRAIL: REMIXED BY DJANGO DJANGO
+ SUPPORTING MOGWAI IN GLASGOW
Did Pictish Trail not already do a good enough a job of rearranging himself at his recent 40th birthday party in the isle of Eigg ceilidh hall, he has called in some experts to properly finish the job. Prog-indie-dance alchemists Django Django have taken the ingredients of Pictish's latest, fuzz-bomb single 'Natural Successor' ( 12" vinyl release Oct 22), diced them up in a digital blender, added a soupçon of baggy beats, a sprig of pitch-shifted vocals, a light honey glaze of phase, and served it all up as a tasty, tasty remix, currently available for consumption by your salivating ears, over the internet. Just call them " Psychedelia Smith". GET IT DOON YE POL.
In other Pictish Trail news, ahead of a full UK tour next year (see below for dates) he's got two big shows coming up in Glasgow next month. One a support slot for the mighty Mogwai at the Royal Concert Hall on Sunday, November 7 (sold out, sorry!) and before that, a headline show at Eastwood Park Theatre in oooooh posh Giffnock on Saturday, November 6 ( not sold out, not sorry!). Glasgow hasn't seen this much Pictish since that time Johnny rode down Sauchiehall Street with his bare arse hanging out of a taxi window, on which occasion it saw far too much*.
*This never really happened FYI, but plausibly it could have happened

OCTOBER POSTMAP CLUB FEAT. CLÉMENTINE MARCH,
SULKA AND EMMA KUPA
|
|
"Please, please Mr Postman!" sang the Marvelettes in 1961, utterly exasperated by the poor quality of the mail service in the local Michigan area. And to think they were still yet to experience the enfeebling dismay of ordering off of Amazon dot com, and the delivery driver who, out of sheer badness, stamps on your freshly ordered DVD of Highlander III: The Sorcerer (1995) then throws it in the next door neighbour's bush. There can be only one (star, Trustpilot review).
Here's hoping your Mr Postman is in a better mood, because we've got a backlog of deliveries to get out to you including an absolutely triple-bangin' triumvirate of PostMap Club releases for October. Starting with a brand new track called 'Isolated' by Lost Map's favourite French person – no, not Christopher Lambert (second favourite) – but of course Clémentine March. Inspired, says Clémentine, by an article she read "about a weird evangelist American guy who wanted to convert one of the last isolated islands in the world to Christianity," (Eigg?) it's a first taste of her “more electronic and more diverse” new EP, which is coming soon. If you'd like to catch Clem live, she's off on the road next year with fellow Lost Map artist Molly Linen, on a special co-headline tour (there can be only two). See below for dates.
Elsewhere in Mr Postman's bulging sack this month will be postcards by Scottish alt-grunge meister Lukas Clasen AKA Sulka, with his track 'Skyline' – the first taste of an upcoming stripped-back Sulka EP – as well as an exclusive live session by Emma Kupa (Standard Fare / Mammoth Penguins / The Hayman Kupa Band), comprising six home-recorded tracks with bonus chat.

The debut five-track EP He Earns Enough by London-based six-piece choral-punk ensemble Jenny Moore's Mystic Business is nearly upon us. Featuring the singles 'I Am Afraid', 'Woman Is A Word' (Empress Of cover) and the title track 'He Earns Enough', it's released tomorrow (Friday, October 8) on 12" vinyl and via digital services. Order now to secure a copy. PostMap Club members, check your email for a discount.
JMMB will celebrate the release of the EP with a launch show in London on Sunday, October 10 at The Victoria in Dalston. It's a Lost Map twofer, with support coming from R.AGGS, AKA Rachel Aggs from Sacred Paws, whose debut solo album – written and recorded on Eigg – we released last year as part of our VISITATIONS residency project. The launch gig's an afternoon matinee-type affair, 2pm start (lateral flow test and masks for all audience members please). While that might be bad news for anyone who, like us, enjoys sleeping past lunchtime of a Sunday before eating a couple of leisurely Chicago Town "Deep Dish" pizzas in bed while viewing a medley of classic Christopher Lambert films, it's good news on the other hand for anyone who likes to get their schoolbag packed and have a refreshing early night.
