The other thing we've done is to release a mind-melting remix of our dad, Pictish Trail's latest single 'Remote Control', expertly done by many-membered London electro-pop ensemble the aformentioned Superorgasm Superorganism. It's available to stream and share now and it's super, super good. If you'd like more where that song came from – a channel-hopping cabin-fever-dream flipping from warped boyband ballad to deep-fried fuzz pop – then take a look at the exciting and quite possibly ground-breaking 'Remote Control' video, or rather weedeos (plural). Suitable to the themes of the song, the video is in fact a 5-in-1 job, which can be viewed either as a single continuous edit, or in parallel on a dedicated viewing platform called Eiggflix, which allows viewers to flick between the different videos at will (almost) seamlessly as the track plays. It's like flicking between "the music channels" in "the early 2000s" except instead of Wheatus or The Offspring or LinkedIn Park or whoever else being on all of the channels all the time it's this weird guy who looks like Ron Jeremy.

JANUARY POSTMAP CLUB FEAT. THE GN BAND + DELIFINGER

In what constitutes a thrilling first for the Waypoints newsletter and indeed a thrilling first for us just in life, we have officially slept with* exactly one (1) person, featured in this month's Lost Map PostMap Club. And we shall say no more about it, oi oi, nudge-nudge, wink-wink, etc etc.
*In a set of bunk beds, on Eigg. We got top bunk.
That lucky, lucky person is George Nicholls (sorry for farts, George), who you may recognise as the founding member and songwriter of critically acclaimed Cardiff noise-pop band Joanna Gruesome (RIP), with whom George toured the world and won the Welsh Music Prize in 2014 for their debut album Weird Sister. George these days makes music under the cunning nom de plume The GN Band, a supergroup of sorts also featuring members of Porridge Radio and Sniffany and The Nits. We're excited to welcome George into the Lost Map family with 'It's Nut's', a shimmering and sophisticated avant-power-pop banger decrying the futility of the neoliberal work ethic. The video for which – containing people in strip-o-gram trenchcoats, nuts 🥜, and more – you can watch and share now.
From a new member of the Lost Map family to a longtime member in Delifinger – so longtime, in fact, that he was a member of the Lost Map family before Lost Map was even Lost Map. If you know you know. Delifinger = the on-off alter-ego of multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and Stroud-based lo-fi odd pop wünderkind Matthew Lacey (OLO Worms / Grasscourt). 'I Don't Even Want To Know' is a slanted song about strange days in the birdcage of everyday life following a global pandemic™. A fully self-made video, filmed in Matthew’s house, is available to watch and share. In a spectacularly prolific spell for the often-dormant Delifinger, there's yet more new music coming soon in the shape of the brand new album Small Love out on September 16, 2022, and available to pre-order now. We get a lot of lovely guests on Eigg for Howlin' Fling and other things and generally speaking they all thrown themselves into the action with frankly wreckless abandon. But few dance a wild marathon ceilidh one night, before reducing everyone in the room to a bubbling, crying mess with a set of exquisite country-folk songs the next night, before on the third night dropping to the floor for some impromptu breakdancing and later flashing the Sgùrr (a mountain) in an impromptu burst of feminine energy (blame LoDo).
American singer-songwriter Courtney Marie Andrews came, saw and conquered, and even left us a delightful memento of the experience in the shape of an exclusive video performance of three unreleased songs, filmed by Mario Cruzado in the Isle of Eigg orchard.
