SEPTEMBER POSTMAP CLUB FEAT.
THE BRAND NEW LOST MAP ARTIST KINBOTE
The young man you can see standing around looking cool, thoughtful and faintly melancholy in a forest goes by the name of Matt Gibb and, unlike Alexia Avina, he's from East Lothian but look stick with us there's more to him than that we promise. Matt, who goes by the musical alias of Kinbote, is our latest signing to Lost Map, and he is a found-sound sampling wizard. For example his debut single 'Hiemalis', which is released as part of September's PostMap Club, features drums made from the satisfying crackle underfoot of branches and leaves, recorded while he walked through a forest. Incredible, right?! Whatever next? Drums sampled from the satisfying crackle of an entire Walkers Classic Variety Crisps ™ 12-pack consumed ferociously in one sitting while watching the DVD The Best of Fort Boyard? Anything is possible because Matt can do it all.
'Hiemalis' is but a mere foretaste of Kinbote's crispy good music, much more of which is waiting to be discovered on his v excellent debut album Shifting Distance, which we'll be releasing on limited-edition CDR in December. We will be telling you much more about Matt and his new album in weeks to come – in the meantime you can watch him play a livestream show on September 19, as part of an Almost Ghosts label night. Here's info on the full set of postcards awaiting dispatch in September as part of a PostMap Club Classic Variety 3-pack™.
