THE LOST MAP PODCAST, REBOOTED
Ever since humankind first crawled out of the primordial ooze, naked and slathered in faeces, raising a fist to the sky and fighting for breath to proclaim: "I hate the Tories and Sting", we have enjoyed the sound of our own voices. It was only a matter of time before humans went on to invent the podcast. It was only a matter before Lost Map went on to make a podcast. Ladies and gentlemen: the Lost Map Podcast – episodes 1-12 available now.
Now that you know the short version of the long version of the history of the Lost Map Podcast, you should also know that we're about to pimp its little ass like never before. Ladies and gentlemen, we're not about to reveal any intimate secrets as to how our business operates, but let's just say that we've legally come into rather a large sum of money. What's left of it after we've paid down various drug, gambling and parking debts, purchased a comfortable yet stylish pink velour jumpsuit, pumped a few slot machines and eaten at least one full 12" Subway sandwich meal deal™, we're going to be lavishing on precisely two things: 1) the PostMap Club (more on that below) and, 2) the from now on associated Lost Map Podcast.
A brand new episode of what will now become a regular monthly podcast, featuring assorted talking and musics by members of the Lost Map family plus maybe some special guests (e.g. Sting), will be available from your usual pod places as of September 1. It'll be all about the label’s seven years of making postcard releases, and feature lots of rare songs, as posted to you through the medium of impractical but charming thin cardboard missives since 2013. Let's hear it for the postmen!

CALLUM EASTER: THE MOVIE
1) Callum Easter, formerly of this parish, has shared a short documentary about the making of his acclaimed Lost Map released album Here Or Nowhere. It was filmed last year by John Bryden (Eyes of Others). Critics are already calling it a "tour de France", but we're not sure why.
|
|
2) Buy a double LP mega bundle of Here Or Nowhere together with Callum's brand new mega-good live album The Green Door Sessions, released on grey-blue vinyl by our friends Moshi Moshi Records. Yours to own and keep forever, for just £25.

PRE-ORDER THE NEW ALBUM BY ALEXIA AVINA, WATCH OUT FOR HER NEW VIDEO COMING NEXT WEEK
Remember CDs? Remember the 1990s? Remember when you were young in the 1990s and bought CDs? Remember when you were young in the 1990s and were powerfully sick in the face of a complete stranger in a provincial nightclub and then hid in a toilet cubicle until closing time then slipped out quietly past the bouncers and never spoke another word of it to another living soul until now? You don't remember that? Do you remember CDs?
Look, about CDs – they're still around and actually cooler than you might think. They've become our new go-to format for a certain flavour of süper-cööl limited-edition release that started with Good Dog's now extremely sold-out album Creature, and will subsequently continue with the soon-to-be extremely sold out album Unearth by Alexia Avina. Available to pre-order now for just Twelve Scottish Pounds, and set for release on October 9, it's the gentle oasis of calm you need in your life as Autumn returns and with it all of those usual feelings of existential dread and futility and insignificance in the face of the inviolable forces of nature and time. You'll like it, it's good to chill out to.
Alexia Avina is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist born and raised in Southeast Asia, previously based in Montreal and now living in rural Massachusetts, whose heavenly music is rooted in ambient, folk and dreampop traditions. Unearth is preceded by the single ‘Fit Into’, the video for which you can watch here. A new video for the album's opening track 'Cups' will premiere next week. It's nice and relaxing, you'll like it. You should relax more – you worry too much.

AUGUST POSTMAP CLUB FEAT. JOHN SHUTTLEWORTH'S NEW FAVOURITE BAND FELL
So as mentioned above, Lost Map's monthly subscription service the PostMap Club is about to get souped-up harder than a 1.4L turbo injection racing red Vauxhall Corsa at the hands of small-town teen with a bong and a death wish. We've kicked that process off in mighty style with a huge celebrity endorsement – and we're not even making this one up for a change. Yorkshire musical-comedian and radio dee-jay John Shuttleworth enjoyed so greatly Fell's cover of his song 'Dandelion and Burdock' that he took to Twitter – the social media website normally reserved for arguing with strangers – to voice his approval. And here's the proof:
You can own the Officially John Shuttleworth Endorsed™ PostMap Postcard single 'Dandelion and Burdock' b/w 'The Rue of Ruby Whores' (also a cover, by Michael Hurley) NOW, just by becoming a member of Da Club. Into the bargain you'll also get a copy of Savage Mansion's latest single 'Monmument', featuring exclusive B-side 'Third Lanark'. AND you'll get a bonus Pictish Trail live album postcard featuring a solo set and a full band set. AND you'll get yet another bonus postcard containing all the individual rare tracks set to be featured in the upcoming episode of the soon to be expensively rebooted Lost Map Podcast, out September 1. That's FOUR postcards. None of them featuring S̶t̶i̶n̶g̶.
A reminder or the two PostMap Club membership tiers and their respective prices and benefits:

SHOP THE POSTMAP MEGA BUNDLE
"I want it all, I want it all, I want it all and I want it now" once sang popular rock band Queen, and after pondering a while whether or not they weren't just being a bit greedy, we listened and acquiesced to their demands. Available to purchase in limited numbers NOW from the Lost Map webshop is the brand new PostMap Mega Bundle – the ultimate investment for completists, compulsives or just anyone who wants to catch up on the first six years of the world's best and indeed only postcard single based music subscription service.
Yes, that's every postcard we released from 2013 to 2018 – basically every postcard from before we started the PostMap Club in 2019 – 42 postcards in all (plus the secret Xmas postcard), a veritable mountain of music, over 120 tracks, many of them unavailable anywhere else. All for just £25. "Don't stop me now, I'm having such a good time, I'm having a ball," sang Queen's kindly animal rights lovin' guitarist Brian May as he rummaged ecstatically through his newly arrived PostMap Mega Bundle from the Lost Map webshop. As he strode off into the sunset, petting a badger, his great grey perm silhouetted fantastically like some kind of benign mushroom cloud, we knew that our work was done.
