A rousing song about the cyclical nature of healing, ‘Pass Back Through’ is the entrancing new single by Glasgow-based Canadian slow-felt swamp rock singer-songwriter L.T. Leif. A video for the track, directed and filmed by Mario Cruzado with Craig M. Stewart, is available to watch and share now. Contains tinfoil knife incident, grocery shopping, creepy grief demons, hugging. 10/10 would recommend.
Released as part of the PostMap Club in December, as well as available to stream and share now, ‘Pass Back Through’ is the latest taste of Leif's forthcoming debut full album for Lost Map, Come Back To Me, But Lightly, which is due on January 27, 2023 and which you can pre-order now on delicious eco-friendly vinyl. We use the word "delicious" figuratively, of course, we haven't actually tasted it. Although we did once taste a plastic plant.

NOVEMBER POSTMAP CLUB FEAT. FIRESTATIONS AND SUSAN BEAR

In this month's PostMap Club bag, there are two different songs about swimming. Did we plan it this way, or is it a complete coincidence? Who can say. All we can say is that it's somehow led to us reading lots of random Google reviews of popular Scottish water park The Time Capsule Monklands, including this one-star classic:

Anyway, about these swimming songs. The first song is 'Swim Under the Winter' by our favourite London dream-pop ensemble and yours Firestations. A shimmering, synth-dappled revery about “making a decision to approach a problem from a different angle” – could be a problem with your burger at Time Capsule Monklands for instance – it’s a foretaste of a slew of exciting new material by the band due for release in 2023. 'Swim Under the Winter' was featured as part of The Joyzine Advent Calendar, which was nice, and they did a nice interview with the band, which was also nice.
The other swimming song is 'Swimming Lessons' by lo-fi queer pop producer Susan Bear (FKA Good Dog). It's another lush vibey-good number from Suse’s second solo album Alter, out now, which was played, recorded, produced and mixed entirely by Suse in her Glasgow studio (★★★★ – The Scotsman). Alter is an album, says Suse, all about "observing the past from a safe place in the present and trying to realise that sometimes change is okay". As Mariners Tim would put it: "anyway the swimming was fine".

PICTISH TRAIL DOES LONDON (ETC)

You say London, we say "FUNDUN"! We say "wait, how much will fun cost in London?" You say "actually quite a lot, London's expensive." We say "fine then, FORGET IT," and we just end up staying at home, eating tall shop-bought pink blancmange while watching various Police Academy movies (1984-1994), not necessarily in the right order, because we can never remember the order which they come in and tbph it never really seems to matter.
But look, just because we're too cheap to go to London shouldn't mean that you shouldn't (go to London), because in London this weekend there will be a whole lot of Pictish Trail. He not only headlines the Moth Club in Hackney, London on Friday, December 9 (with support from Lost Map's own Maranta), but also does a special guest DJ set at the Scared to Dance clubnight at the Shacklewell Arms in Hackney, London later that same night (get your requests in now, long as they're all for MC Boing). Then on Saturday, December 10 he plays at Daylight Music at St Johns on Bethnal Green, London (as part of a Lost Map showcase also featuring sets by Fell and Alliyah Enyo). Let's call it Pictish Trail Does London. Feel free to come on down, to London. Of course, you may already live in London, in which case just carry on (living in London), and feel free to come on down as well. Transport options include the famous train in London, the one that goes underground. What's it called again? Can't remember.
Don't want to go to London? Don't worry, we've got you covered, so long as you live in the following places – Todmorden, Faversham – because Pictish Trail is visiting these places for shows over the next few days too. One before London, one after London, like the slices of bread in a kind of London sandwich. Let's call it Pictish Trail Does London But Before That Does Todmorden And After That Does Faversham. Possibly need to work on that title.
