New year, new artist: meet the wonderful Amy May Ellis! Raised in a remote dale in the middle of the North York Moors, Amy invites you on a journey through the history and mysticism of this wide-open landscape. Now based in Bristol, her warm and delicate folk-leaning songs are steeped in the culture, scenery, folklore and wildlife of the countryside that surrounded and shaped her as a child. Amy makes her debut for Lost Map Records with the PostMap Club postcard single ‘Rain From The East’, a song about “feeling unsteady and the weariness that comes with grief”, formed in time with the shovelling of coal under a gathering storm.
Recorded live with Rob Pemberton on drums and Alex Heane on double bass, it’s the opening track and first taster of Amy’s mesmerising forthcoming debut album Over Ling and Bell, which is due for release on limited-edition eco-friendly 12” vinyl and digital platforms on May 12, 2023, and available for pre-order now. Amy will play live around the UK in February, as tour support for James Yorkston and Nina Persson (see below for full list of dates), as well as perform at the Lost Map 10 anniversary all-dayer at Oran Mor in Glasgow on Sunday, February 5 as part of the Celtic Connections festival. Happy birthday to us! Getting the Year of Party™ started in style, it's Lost Map 10 at Oran Mor in Glasgow, on Sunday, February 5 as part of this year's Celtic Connections Festival. The full line-up for this delectable all-dayer across two rooms at Glasgow's finest church-turned-boozer is now confimed and announced, and features the crème de la crème of Lost Map's most available talent, laid out from mid-afternoon through late evening like the many delicious dishes in an all-day hot and cold running buffet. From fresh signings to cult heroes, hushed acoustic sets to absolute flamin' hot balls on the dancefloor party bangers, this one will have it all. Full line-up as follows:

JANUARY POSTMAP CLUB FEAT. FREE LOVE
|
|
Trivia geeks, answer us this: what is the (very tenous) connection that links the seasonal comedy classic Trading Places (1983), starring Dan Aykroyd and Eddie Murphy, with your favourite rapturous psychedelic pop duo and ours Free Love? Why, it's of course Free Love's absolutely pümping new single 'Dans Le Noir', a retro hi-NRG odyssey inspired by 1970s electronic dance music pioneer Patrick Cowley. Cowley, as any self-respecting geek will know, was the producer of among other big fat synth bangers the 1982 single 'Do You Wanna Funk' feat. Sylvester, a song memorably used in the film Trading Places, specifically the bit when Billy Ray invites loads of folk from the pub back to Louis's gaff for afters, and somebody starts putting their Kools out on the floor and a bunch of girls get their boobs out for no obvious reason. Look we told you it was tenuous.
Anyway. 'Dans Le Noir' is released as part of Lost Map's PostMap Club subscription service in the month of January, and is also available to stream and share now. It's taken from Free Love's absolutely epic forthcoming album INSIDE, which you can pre-order on limited-edition pink or eco-mix multi-coloured vinyl now. Free Love will play their first live show in absolutely ages at the Lost Map 10 anniversary all-dayer on Sunday, February 5 as part of the Celtic Connections festival. It will be a stone groove, my man.

If we were to tell you that L.T. Leif's forthcoming debut album for Lost Map Records titled Come Back To Me, But Lightly is absolutely out of this world, we would not be lying and for two very specific reasons: 1) Is good album, 2) CBTMBL will be launched into the stratosphere on Sunday, January 29 at The Glad Cafe in Glasgow with what has now been dubbed L.T. Leif's Interstellar Album Launch Party. And let us explain why it is called that.
At this Interstellar Album Launch Party, presented by our pals OK Pal Records and The Glad Cafe, there will not only be a special performance by Leif together with their full band, of songs from the aformentioned out of this world™ album plus more songs besides, but ahead of that, there will be an unconventional opening act in the form of a talk from the Glasgow University Astronomy Society.
