PRE-ORDER SAVAGE MANSION'S
DEBUT ALBUM REVISION BALLADS
NO PRESSURE OR ANYTHING
(EXCEPT WE'LL HATE YOU IF YOU DON'T):
https://www.lostmap.com/products/savage-mansion-revision-ballads
Oh god there's so much news to fit in to this newsletter that we don't know how we're going to get through it all and we're panicking a bit and oh god pass the paper bag oh christ (*hyperventilates*). Okay right first up Savage Mansion's impending album debut Revision Ballads, which is released on February 15 and is available to pre-order now on LP. Let us cut to the chase and tell you that buying Savage Mansion's debut album Revision Ballads is basically a no-brainer because quite apart from being a really bloody good album – think Pavement's Stephen Malkmus and the guy out of Parquet Courts, wrestling jovially in a mountain of delicious crisps – its purchase also includes the following ancillary benefits:
- Pictures of Craig e.g. standing in front of a bush.
- Nice cover art Lions, leopard, elephant, crocodile, man mowing the lawn. Lovely shade of orange.
- Contains the song 'No Flags' Available to listen to now as a 'lil sneak peek, 'No Flags' is a rockin' good song about bad political bastards. It's been covered in a melodica-wonk stripped-back style by Pictish Trail as the B-side to a PostMap postcard single, available as part of our new PostMap Club subscription service (see below).
- Extremely reasonable price Guys, £14, c'mon! We've bought entire Indian takeaway set menus for two and eaten them all alone in our underwear washed down with warm lager and Rennies for that kind of price. Such a bargain!
- Also available with a cassette For just three extra Sterling pounds or equivalent currency we'll bundle in a copy of Savage Mansion's excellent Document EP on obsolete but charming cassette tape format.
- Launch party good times (x2) This technically isn't included in the cost of the album but for just five extra Sterling pounds or equivalent currency you can attend the launch party for Revision Ballads at the Hug and Pint in Glasgow on Fri, Feb 15. There's also an after-party at the Blue Arrow inclusive in the ticket price, featuring a live set from Rapid Tan and Underachievers' Club DJs 'til late. That's twice the party! We'll try to be there but we'll more likely be home by that point solo eating a curry for two.
SAVAGE MANSION LIVE:
THU, FEB 14 @ CELLAR, ABERDEEN
FRI, FEB 15 @ HUG AND PINT, GLASGOW (ALBUM LAUNCH SHOW) [TICKETS]
SAT, FEB 16 @ CONROY'S BASEMENT, DUNDEE

WELCOME (BACK) MARTHA FFION
When Martha Ffion left us to sign for the excellent Turnstile Records following enthusiastic reception to her PostMap postcard single 'No Applause' back in 2015 there were no hard feelings at all. Save perhaps for when we burned all her stuff in a huge pyre in the back garden through a flood of bitter tears. Anyway, we are delighted to welcome her back to the label, following the release of her superb Scottish Album of the Year Award nominated debut album Sunday Best last year. Her latest PostMap standalone postcard single, the supremely melodious 'Kennedy Hair', is available to buy now or to receive as the flagship release in our PostMap Club membership subscription series (more on that below). There's a video coming soon too. It's funny.
Claire, as Martha is known (bit confusing sometimes), was a recent guest on American public radio station NPR's World Cafe as part of their Sense of Place: Scotland series, sharing chat and songs from the Hug and Pint in Glasgow, and you can have a listen back here. We'll have more exciting Martha Ffion news to share soon, including some summer festival dates, but in the meantime know that she is playing a set as part of the Play It Like A Woman all-dayer in support of Glasgow & Clyde Rape Crisis at The Glad Cafe in Glasgow on Saturday, March 9, also featuring L-space, Life Model and Jo Foster among others. Here's that information again, except this time in capital letters.
MARTHA FFION LIVE:
SAT, MAR 9 @ PLAY IT LIKE A WOMAN ALL-DAYER, THE GLAD CAFE, GLASGOW [TICKETS]

JOIN THE POSTMAP CLUB TODAY IF YOU WANT THE FIRST SET OF POSTCARDS
We've been really quite moved by the enthusiastic response to our new PostMap Club membership subscription service and tbqh having so many new friends all of a sudden has gone some way towards helping us cope with the inexorable feeling of profound loneliness in the vastness of the universe with which we grapple on a daily basis, but that's something we're working through in therapy and look, don't worry about it, okay? If you haven't yet signed-up then you'd better move quick, because midnight tonight is the cut-off date if you want to receive the first two Post Map postcard singles in the series – the aforementioned Martha Ffion's 'Kennedy Hair' and the afore-aforementioned Savage Mansion's 'No Flags'. It also means you get to say you were here first – you were one of the pioneers, the originators, the early birds, the true cool kids. Nobody likes a Johnny-come-lately. Especially not a guy we met once at a party who was literally called Johnny Comelately. He turned up late, nobody spoke to him. It was really sad.
A reminder of the two tiers of PostMap Club membership
and some of the many benefits you will enjoy:
REGULAR BREW
(£3 + postage, per month)
- Postcards (obvs)! At least two collectible PostMap postcards sent to your door at the end of every month – each containing download codes for a mixture of brand new music on Lost Map, alongside a random selection from our archives
- Badge! Plus a new badge for every year of your subscription
- Monthly newsletter! Containing hot goss / farmyard shite
- Discounts! On other Lost Map releases, merchandise and gigs
- Feelgood glow! Help support a plucky young independent record label go about its merry business
GOLD BLEND
(£5 + postage, per month)
- All of the above except with a bigger badge
- Supposing a Regular Brew member and a Gold Blend member were locked in a bare-knuckle fight to the death and we had the opportunity to throw one of them a weapon, say a rusty spanner, then obvs we'd throw it to the Gold Blend member!
- That's plenty for now, don't be greedy

HOWLIN' FLING! TICKETS
Shit the bed it's the return of Howlin' Fling! Lost Map's biennial hoedown in and around the Ceilidh Hall on the Hebridean Isle of Eigg hosted by local electro-croft musician and sheep botherer Pictish Trail takes place this year from Friday, May 31 to Saturday, June 1. Remaining tickets – following a pre-sale to VISITATIONS subscribers – will go on sale at 12 noon sharp this Saturday, February 2. Numbers will bery verrrryyyy limited, and competition is typically fierce and we expect that some of you will sadly miss out. But know that we love all of you equally. Yes, even you. Despite what you just did in the downstairs bathroom while browsing the Argos catalogue. Disgusting.
Howlin' Fling small print:
- Tickets cost £168, which includes a ferry trip to and from the island as well as camping.
- We will announce the line-up in a few months time – but you can expect a lot of acts from the label, as well as some very special guests.
- Over 18s only (think of this as a good thing).
- Howlin' Fling is a wild camping festival, for the well prepared, sturdy and stout of heart only. The nights are dark, the ground is rugged and the weather can be harsh. If you're thinking of coming with a £10 Tesco tent, a pair of trainers and 48 cans of lager, maybe think again?
- By all means bring the lager, just get a better tent and shoes.

LISTEN TO ALABASTER DEPLUME'S NEW LIVE ALBUM NOW, BUY TICKETS FOR HIS BIGGEST HEADLINE GIG TO DATE
Sorry for shouting at you a lot there – capital letters are always a bit shouty, aren't they? – but we've just got a lot to shout about right now when it comes to Alabaster dePlume, our favourite person in the world when it comes to politically-charged, softly sax-honking jazzy-strange poetic pop. For instance a new deluxe edition of his extraordinary album The Corner of a Sphere incorporating a new bonus album of live versions and remixes, all released tomorrow, February 1, ahead of his biggest headline show to date in London. Oh did we mention all of this stuff already? SORRY.
When not spreading righteousness to the world through the power of his music, Gus as Alabaster is known (bit confusing sometimes) is spreading yet more righteousness to the world these days through the power of the spoken word, over the airwaves on his new monthly radio Realistic Behaviour on Gilles Peterson's global music radio platform Worldwide FM (find out more here). Tune in for live players developing music as you listen, fresh emerging and original releases and chat so feelgood they should prescribe it on the NHS.
ALABASTER DEPLUME LIVE:
SAT, FEB 2 @ HANGAR, LONDON FIELDS, LONDON [TICKETS]
SUN, FEB 3 @ THE BLUE ARROW, GLASGOW (PART OF INDEPENDENT VENUE WEEK) [TICKETS]

THE ART OF LOST MAP
If you've ever wondered why Lost Map is so bloody good looking then the short answer is: David Galletly. Not because David's unusually good looking himself – we're all unusually good looking here truth be told, or at least unusual looking – but rather because he's the label's very talented designer who does our website and many of our record sleeves and posters and other kinds of things and stuffs. There's an exhibition of his work on in Stirling right now, featuring many of his Lost Map works, and you should have a look. It's very good looking.
