PRE-ORDER MARTHA FFION'S NEW ALBUM
NIGHTS TO FORGET
Here at Lost Map Records we have been known on occasion to get shall we say "creative" with the truth – e.g. remember when we said our dad was mates with The Terminator and he let us have a shot on his motorbike, or that time we claimed to be able to fit an entire deck of Jaffa Cakes ™ in our mouth in one go without choking? Lies. Point being: sometimes it's worth independently verifying some of the rambling, occasionally nakedly slanderous bollocks we type out late at night, semi-delirious on big bowls of full-sugar Alpen ™, towards these half-monthly Waypoints news-dümps, in order that you can be 100% confident as to the veracity of sweeping statements such as the following: Martha Ffion is real, real good at the musics.
This is provably true for several reasons, including the fact that the good people at BBC 6 Music and BBC Radio Scotland have been rinsing the sh*t (technical term) out of her latest single 'Want You to Know'. Just right now as we are typing this Gideon Coe has played it on his show. Night before that Roddy Hart played it on his show, a day after Lauren Laverne had played it on her show, not long before Vic Galloway played it on his show! Either they're all lazy and are copying one other, or it's verifiably just a really bloody good song, yeah?
And there's more: Spotify have added 'Want You To Know' to two of their editorial playlists, one called Scotify (Claire's Irish but still), and another called Hot New Bands ( ). Look, hurry up and just pre-order her new album Nights to Forget right now why don't you because you won't regret it. Still not convinced? Are you remembering that our dad knows The Terminator?!!!

LIVIN' IT UP AT THE HOTEL A.R. PINEWOOD
Strange but true: an early prototype model of A.R. Pinewood – Lost Map's first and indeed only fully-synthetic robo-country singer – was drifting up the West Coast of the U.S of A in the late 1970s when he was befriended by Don Felder from The Eagles. After a long dark night of the soul snorting copious amounts of WD-40, the lonesome cyborg-cowpuncher helped a v high Don to demo the song that would later become legendary cocaine anthem 'Hotel California', then provisionally titled '# XÆA-12'. It's perhaps a residual memory of this experience buried somewhere deep in his circuitry that inspired Pinewood to pen his latest guesthouse based lament 'Hotel', this one being a v lovely but also sad song all about a deserted and crumbling harbourside inn in Fife. He thought about calling it 'Hotel Fife', but it didn't have quite the same ring. It features on Pinewood's forthcoming debut album No Life, which is out next week and which you can pre-order now.
You can become the proud owner of a postcard single copy of the extremely moving song 'Hotel' (w/ exclusive b-side ‘If You’re Lonely’) by signing up the PostMap Club. Doing so will furthermore ensure you receive copies this month of Martha Ffion's extra fine song 'Want You to Know' (with an exclusive B-side), as well as Fell's Sides E/F EP (featuring the songs ‘Ida!’ and ’Nearly Here'). If you're new to the club in June, you'll additionally be posted out all of May's postcards by Martha Ffion, Savage Mansion, Happy Spendy and Undermedvetenheten. All that for as little as £3 / £5! That's great value, albeit not as great value as The Eagles' seminal album Hotel California which can be purchased in most good charity shops for as little as £1.
