PICTISH TRAIL IS GOING ON TOUR WITH DJANGO DJANGO
Like a cute Spring lamb birthed down on the farm smeared in its mum's rectal effluent, so too does Lost Map's Waypoints newsletter deliver hope, beauty and promise of the new to your inbox, coated in pure sh*te. Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to installment #180 – a Jim Bowen Bullseye special no less. "Stay out t’black, stay in t’red, you don’t get owt for two in a bed".
First up some exciting IRL tour news from Skinny magazine cover star Pictish Trail, who in October this year will be hittin' the road in support of the one and only Django Django – a band so nice they named themselves twice (see also Duran Duran, The The, Kris Kristofferson). Pictish will be joining the Djangos at shows from Belfast to Brighton and everywhere in between, a full list of which with attendant ticket links you can find here. IRL! OMG!
Pictish's new EP Dream Wall recently hit digital services hard and true, like a dart wanged onto the Bullseye prize board by a middle-aged northern woman with an unconventional back-handed throw. Packed with kaleidoscopic remixes of Pictish songs by Lost Map luminaries and friends including Callum Easter, Kinbote, Bamboo and Good Dog, the Dream Wall EP represents an appendage of sorts to the Trail's critically acclaimed fourth album Thumb World, which was released last year on Fire Records (still on sale now). Think of Dream Wall like a kind of Bully Bonus crockery set to Thumb World's star prize luxury caravan.

APRIL POSTMAP CLUB FEAT. KINBOTE
|
|
Fun fact: Lost Map's resident electronic glitch-pop wizard Kinbote's unconventional moniker derives from an elderly relative's memorable expletive outburst while watching a classic episode of Bullseye in the 1980s , in which two men in big shirts failed to win a speedboat ("a f'kin boat!!!!??").
Speaking of Matt Gibb AKA f' Kinbote: last week we hosted a really very extremely enjoyable live session by Matt, filmed in the glamorous/enigmatic surrounds of "the village hall" – not sure which village hall but they all look the same don't they? – which was available to all PostMap Club subscribers as part of April's bundle o' fundle. If you missed it then here's a wee sample of what you could have won. Not a member of the PostMap Club and still want in on this action? DINNAE SWEAT IT PAL, just sign up before the end of the month. Or even next month, because we always send out the previous month's postcards together with the current month's postcards to every new subscriber. Because unlike Jim Bowen, we are firm believers in second chances.

Pledges: we've made a few, mostly to ourselves, all of them broken. e.g. "will not eat McDonald's and Burger King in the same day", or "will not use famous rapper Snoop Dogg's popular fast food delivery app Just Eat to have a McDonald's/Burger King improvised 'megamix' meal cycle couriered to door". Worst of all: "will not eat Burger King's new plant-based 'Rebel Whopper' ™ burger in the bath together with a four-piece side-serving of 'Veggie Dippers' ™ and a Cadbury Creme Egg McFlurry™, all while getting unexpectedly v. emotional over movie Star Trek II: Wrath of Khan".
Someone else who knows a lot about broken pledges is RKB Vitesse, AKA maker of transiently euphoric electro doom bangers, London-based producer Oliver Marchant. A video for his sine-wave bass throbbing, transcendently sad spoken-word whopper of a single ‘Pledge Pyschodrama’ is available to watch and share now. Oliver explains that the song is “a true tale of alcohol sodden heartbreak and broken promises on a short holiday to the Eden Valley, Cumbria,” and as we sob quietly in the bath – which is the best place for sobbing when you think about it – we absolutely feel his pain.
‘Pledge Pyschodrama’ is available as part of this month's PostMap Club (and also via digital services), and leads an entire EP of the same name, also featuring a weird and dark remix of the title track by K Of Zen, plus a slo-mo disco remix by Oliver of his own song ‘Dancer At The Edge of Time’ and a strange and wonderful “response” to another of Oliver's tracks ‘The More You Love Yourself’ by performance artists, musicians and poets montenegrofisher.
