LOST MAP'S XMAS FLASH SALE! BUMPER DISCOUNT ON VINYL AND CDs UNTIL FRIDAY!
Not unlike that time we got into a spot of legal bother in a lay-by off the M62 for accidentally exposing ourselves to some passing pensioners, Lost Map is doing A MASSIVE FLASH (sale). With Christmas just around the corner, we're pulling it right out and letting everyone have a good look at our impressive endowment of UNSOLD STOCK. For less than the price of police-issued fixed penalty notice, you can buy x3 vinyl records or x3 CDs from a select section of Lost Map's stacked, jacked and packing back catalogue. Titles both recent and not so recent include L.T. Leif's Come Back To Me, But Lightly, Free Love's Inside, Pictish Trail's Future Echoes and Rozi Plain's Friend. Available as long as stocks last or, more likely, until Friday, December 15.
Lost Map's Xmas offerings don't end there, with Xmas Humbug right around the corner on Saturday, December 16. Our festive all-dayer in two parts at Summerhall in Edinburgh is all but completely sold out, save for a few remaining tickets for the evening show (daytime show and all-day tickets all gone, sorry!). Act quickly if you want to join us for simply the best mixture of music, boozes, merriment and boozes. Full line-up as follows. We'll explain about Christopher Lambert in a minute.

SAVAGE MANSION: NOW WE KNOW WHY THEY CRY
It was circa 1994 aged 12 while watching Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991) on a hooky VHS tape procured from local child criminal Lewis McBride that your faithful WayPoints scribe crossed the rubicon to adulthood. Around five minutes in, during the scene where there's a lingering shot of hard Austrian butt followed by the T-101 chucking a grizzly biker guy who looks a bit like Donald Sutherland onto a flamin' hot burger grill, a parent walked into the room and space and time seemed to stop: busted so damn bad. And yet, to our amazement and minor unease, the parent could only raise an exasperated sigh and the defeated words: "fine watch it if you like but it'll give you nightmares. " 29 years later and countless restless twilight hours haunted by sweaty-trippy visions of Hunter Killer drones, self-aware artificial neural networks, violence, gore, nuclear apocalypse and hard Austrian butt, and the prophesy remains true. But what a film!
We mention all this for a reason and it's that Savage Mansion's thrilling new album The Shakes (released February 16, 2024, pre-order now) features a really rocking song called 'Total Colombia' which is inspired by T2. "The chorus," says Craig from SavMans, "is lifted from the dialogue when Arnold’s character says to John Connor 'what’s wrong with your eyes', when he’s crying about his dead foster parents." It's a scene which of course cleverly foreshadows T2's emotional denouement beside a vat of molten iron. By which point we're crying, you're crying. Everybody's crying. Now you know why Savage Mansion cry. Strong men with soft hearts.
You can't hear 'Total Columbia' yet but you can hear another excellent new song from The Shakes called 'Present Tense', which is out this month as part of Lost Map's PostMap Club subscription service. With Christmas approaching, don't forget that you can give the gift of PostMap with a PostMap Club Gift Subscription. Like a hooky T2 VHS, it's the ideal present for a friend or family member who is strong of body, and yet soft of heart

DECEMBER POSTMAP CLUB
FEAT. AFTERLANDS + MARTHA FFION
Delicate, refreshing, mysterious and best enjoyed after dark, Lost Map's exciting new signing Afterlands are the After Eights™ of seasonal confectionaries. Born as way of staving off madness during lockdown and patiently nurtured into one of the most exciting projects either of its architects have turned their hands to, they're a songwriting/production duo comprising Rick Anthony (The Phantom Band / Rick Redbeard) and David McAulay (Strike the Colours). We're giving you a sneaky taste of just one of their individually-wrapped delicious mint thins (songs) in the run up to Christmas, in the shape of their utterly beautiful debut single 'I Woke To The Sound Of The Wind'. Which by some appearances might look like it's a song about nocturnal flatulence but we can assure you is not. Released as part of the PostMap Club in December and available to stream and share on digital platforms now, it's the perfect introduction to Afterlands’ crepuscular sound world. More incredible new music from them to follow in 2024.
Sweet, fruity, fun on the 'sesh and best enjoyed hot, Lost Map stalwart Martha Ffion is the Bailey's Irish Cream™ of seasonal beverages. Claire brings something extra special to the PostMap Club this month in the shape of a four-song video acoustic session of tracks from her wonderful latest album The Wringer. Filmed by our pal Mario Cruzado, with audio mixed by Robyn Dawson (Weird Wave), it's available to subscribers now in a password protected section of the Lost Map website. If you haven't yet signed up to the PostMap Club, find out what you're missing now by cracking open a fresh bottle o' Baileys and settling in to watch the one non-exclusive performance from the session, of Claire's marvellous new single 'What They Said About You'.

Also included in this month's PostMap Club:
Savage Mansion – 'Present Tense' b/w 'Night School'
Two more delectable tasters from the forthcoming album The Shakes by one of Lost Map's most prolific bands. Like The Terminator, they will not stop.
