It's been a long, hard slog since humankind first dragged itself out of the primordial soup 3.7 billion years ago but finally we have elevated ourselves to a position where Guys On The Internet can harvest clicks by the million with regular videoettes of themselves doing cool and exciting stuff like eating spicy foods, wearing hats and shouting. To mark this milestone in the latter stages of our journey as a species, Kinbote presents his really excellent new kaleidescopic electronic pop song 'Daily Vlogger', which is out now via Lost Map's PostMap Club subscription service as well as via streaming channels.
“I was on the island of Møn off the coast of Denmark,” explains Matt Gibbb AKA Kinbote (pictured) about ‘Daily Vlogger’, “I recorded a bunch of samples while there, which are placed throughout, and used to make most of the drums and some of the synths. Someone had written the words ‘Daily Vlogger’ in chalk on a fence next to a path above the cliffs, and I decided to write about that. The song is about the obsessed fan of a vlogger, switching between her perspective and the vlogger’s.” A video for 'Daily Vlogger', made by Matt and friends, tells sort of the same story as the song except with moving images instead of words, which is pretty clever when you think about it.
'Daily Vlogger' is taken from Kinbote's really brilliant forthcoming new album Hemisphere, which we're releasing on limited-edition CD with zine on April 12, 2024 ( pre-order now). A couple of days later on Sunday, April 14, Kinbote will play a launch gig at The Glad Cafe in Glasgow – a special audio-visual live show featuring contributions from different filmmakers and visual artists, all washed down with delicious brown beer. A feast for all the senses, except maybe touch (don't touch anybody) and smell (no farting). Tickets on sale now.

PICTISH TRAIL: LIVE IN LEITH + OTHER SHOWS
|
|
Like Britney in Vegas but with bigger nipple tassles and less drugs, Pictish Trail is taking up residence in the Port o' Leith, Edinburgh. Sort of. First came the announcement for An Evening With Pictish Trail at Leith Franklin Academical Beige Cricket Club on Saturday, March 23 (sold out). Next came the announcement for Another Evening With Pictish Trail at the same venue on May 31 (also sold out). The first gig will be solo, the second gig will be full band, both will feature special guests. He'll play some never-heard-before new material, and some golden oldies. The vibes will be cosy and the pints will be cheap. Beat that, Britney.
Both Leith shows are, like we say, sold out, which begs the question why we're even telling you about them. Just showing off really. But there are other Pictish shows in the offing this spring and summer – including West Malvern Social Club in Malvern in June, and the Green Man festival in Wales in August. Some of them (one, Malvern) isn't sold out, so why not buy tickets for them Malvern instead? Forced to admit what the true thrust of this newsletter item actually is, we'd probably have to say: please buy tickets for Pictish Trail's show in Malvern, Worcestershire on June 1, 2024. Only 331 miles from Leith.

MARCH POSTMAP CLUB
FEAT. RANDOLPH'S LEAP + AMY MAY ELLIS
|
|
In April 2014, when Lost Map was just 0.73 years old, we released only our second album on the label, the charming full-length debut Clumsy Knot by Randolph's Leap. A full decade later, just look at us now! Still selling the same record by Randolph's Leap.
To mark the 10th anniversary of Clumsy Knot, we have put together a very special limited-edition double CD set, packaging the original album with copies of Most Clunky – a Randolph's Leap live album recorded at our Christmas Baubles event in December 2014, also featuring exclusive rare B-sides, remixes and single versions from the same period. All for just £14! That's less than the cost of x2 Subway® Stacked Bacon & Cheese SubMelts®, if admittedly a bit more than the cost of x1 standard Subway® Series Footlong Meal Deal® (don't blame us blame inflation). PostMap Club members will this month receive Most Clunky digitally in its entirety at no extra cost! To hear Adam from Randolph's Leap reminisce on the making of Clumsy Knot, look no further than the latest episode of the Lost Map Podcast.
Also included in the most chunky PostMap Club mailbag in March is the latest single from Amy May Ellis's wonderful debut album Over Ling and Bell, which we released almost a whole year ago. The spellbinding 'Miner Farmer' is accompanied by a remix from Bristolian producer Elsa Hewitt, drenching Amy's pitch-shifted vocals in delay to create a trippy, otherworldly pastoral vision. Amy MAY Ellis is on tour all over the UK in MAY supporting American singer-songwriter Willy MASON. Coincidence? MAYbe, MAYbe not. Scroll down for dates.
