AKA 11 REASONS TO GO TO PENICUIK THIS WEEKEND

Howlin' Fringe is kicking off tomorrow, Saturday 8th August ... and we've got 11 reasons as to why you should visit Penicuik!

Slow Club, Seamus Fogarty, The Pictish Trail, Tuff Love, Randolph's Leap, Kid Canaveral, Rozi Plain and Supermoon: let's get that bit out of the way first, which is to say the full line-up for Lost Map's Howlin' Fringe! at Penicuik Town Hall on Saturday, August 8.  Save for the pending additions of a few funny people ("comedians") TBA, anyway, assuming we can coax one or two of them away from the orgy of queuing and wasted paper that is the "Edinburgh Fringe". Our last remaining tickets are on sale at £18, so get buying now if you don't want to miss out.

Oh you greedy sods you. Since they went onsale two weeks back you've been snapping up tickets to our Howlin' Fringe! mini-festival at Penicuik Town Hall on Sat Aug 8 faster than we could say "wait, we've accidentally set the postage rate too low!", Early-Birds have long since flown out the door. We've just started a new competition ... in the build up to the event, we'd like you to share photographs of some of your most howlin' hairdos - from the explosive bangs your sadistic mother styled for you for a school photograph as a gap-toothed sprog, to that ill-advised severe combover you sported when you were going through your teeny emo phase. Haircut catastrophes, dodgy doos, follical misfires, barber-based balls-ups - we'll take 'em all! ...

Having just come off tour with Ride, and playing to a packed out tent at Field Day, Tuff Love are currently locked away in Suse's flat, putting the finishing touches to some new recordings.  DO NOT DISTURB.  We're not allowed to tell you any more about the sounds emanating from that room ...

BUT ... we can tell you that the band have just announced a string of dates in November.  They're playing Sheffield (9th), Leiceister (10th), Brighton (11th), London (12th), Hebden Bridge (13th), Manchester (14th) and York (15th) ... with more dates to be announced later.

Latest single, ‘Beautiful World’ is a desolately beautiful garage-psych ballad that sings to the death grip intensity of true romance amid the early-morning dregs of a party, with a chorus none more toxically euphoric than “I’m so happy, I could die”.  Frontman George Thomas, has put together a video of reverse tree-surgery, in which trees regenerate around a colour-flipped city-scape ...

Beautiful World has yet another incarnation ... If you head over to our CLUMPS section, you can tune in to BBC Radio 4000 and get your ears around Beautiful World, a podcast/radio-play performed, and put together for your ear-hole enjoyment by the band.  

It's Record Store Day this Saturday (18th April) - a day where music fans, and queueing enthusiasts, joyfully gather together in one big conga-line.  You can purchase rare re-pressed records, new depressed records, scratch'n'sniff cassettes and talk to people directly in front of you, and directly behind you, in an orderly formation.  It's a celebration of music and the people who like music.

It doesn't feature a collection of Josie's lesser-know bassoon jams (much as we wish it did) but instead two of her incredibly funny live shows, 2010's Be Honourable, and 2011's The Future Is Another Place.   We've also got some new t-shirts in stock, designed by Josie's favourite illustrators ...
